Richmond and Wandsworth Council - Case Study

After a historic step-change saw Richmond and Wandsworth Councils share their whole workforce to serve both boroughs, the financial assessments (FA) teams decided it needed to overhaul its existing in-house processes, and migrate to a Standard Practice Financial Assessment, to better serve the people in its care.

Mosaic helps Richmond and Wandsworth Councils to unify FA processes; making both significant time savings and helping workforces to fully integrate across the boroughs.

In 2016, Richmond and Wandsworth Councils launched a shared workforce to serve over half a million Londoners. As part of the collaboration, the Council’s joint-financial assessment team were looking for a more uniform and streamlined approach to processing its annual financial assessments.

Introduction

Mosaic is our software for social care case and finance management. An intuitive, integrated system, Mosaic has financial assessment functionality which automates processes and provides user-friendly workflows and financial reporting, for social care.

A ready-to-go toolkit

In April 2019, Richmond and Wandsworth Councils went live with our Customer-Led Configuration (CLC) Standard Practice Financial Assessment (FA) Form. Mosaic’s CLC is a ready-to-go toolkit full of effective ways of working.

The CLC is drawn from the knowledge and experience of local authorities across the country. Curated by us, which collates and shares new forms and workflows that are proven to work well, local authorities can choose to use the ones that fit their exact requirements.

From in-house to out of the box

We oversaw the complex migration from an in-house form to the CLC at Richmond and Wandsworth Councils, which went live in April 2019. Since then, the FA team has made significant time savings, and now has a clearer view of how to financially assess the people in its care.

Now, Richmond and Wandsworth can simply take the CLC form each year, and use our financial assessment batch uplift (FABU) process to automatically create the FA forms, rather than having to spend weeks creating them manually.

At the beginning of the journey, it was taking us around half a day to manually create a report. Now with the CLC, it takes about 10-15 minutes. The feedback from the FA team has been really positive. The move to the CLC has achieved exactly what we hoped it would; not only are we now more efficient, the move has helped the boroughs to integrate, as we now follow the same processes, and carry out our assessments in the same way.
