Caring for the Carer - The Care Workers' Charity
The Care Workers' Charity (CWC) is a non-profit organisation that focuses on promoting the importance of care workers’ roles and their contributions to society, which often goes overlooked.
Their story begins in 2009, with an ambition to build advocacy and support current and retired care workers within the UK, alongside a desire to protect care workers from financial unpredictability by providing crisis grants, alongside other support.
Driving Positive Change for Carers
The Care Workers' Charity recognises the strain care workers face in their line of work.
To help address this, the CWC have published guides and resources on a range of issues care workers are facing to help them manage work-related stress; they have partnered with Red Umbrella to provide free counselling sessions with qualified therapists, and are delivering Mental Health First Aider training to care workers.
We are pleased to work with the Care Workers' Charity as a sponsor, and we recognise how the lack of resources and proper funding can affect the workforce, and so by collaborating with the Care Workers' Charity, we aim to help bridge this gap and support their essential efforts.
“You’re just a carer”
Labelling people as ‘just carers’ fails to acknowledge the vital importance and impact that our care workforce has – not just to individuals but to the wider society. Despite their crucial role, care workers are often faced with low wages, long travel times (often unpaid travel costs) and inconsistent training.
The CWC has signalled these issues and challenges, and has worked with the government, the Department of Health and Social Care, and Skills for Care to advocate for and support the welfare of carers.

Working together with the Care Workers' Charity
The values and goals we share with the CWC have grown into a strong partnership. From skydiving fundraisers and CWC’s yearly writing competition to quarterly quizzes and coffee pop-ups, we have raised thousands for the charity and are committed to continuing these efforts year after year.
Karolina Gerlich, CEO of the Care Workers’ Charity, said:
“We cherish our strong bond with Access and genuinely appreciate the ongoing engagement and passion they bring to our shared mission. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of care workers.”

Shaping lasting change
Nothing can change if nothing will change.
The Care Workers' Charity is committed to helping care workers through any storms they could be facing, building a structure of support and recognition that encourages organisations to consider and engage care workers.
However, to foster change also means expanding impact through awareness and joint effort. Access invites collaborations and encourages organisations to proudly support the Care Workers' Charity and welcomes you to join us in making a lasting difference; campaigning for care workers in building a future where they feel recognised, supported, but also to return the care and compassion they deliver.
