Donorfy

Donorfy Product Update: July 2026

July has been a month of polish, performance, and progress under the hood.

This month, the team focused on making Donorfy feel faster and more seamless, whether that's the way it sits inside the Evo platform, how quickly your dashboards and lists load, or the reliability of the integrations you depend on every day. We've also continued building out the new Donorfy API, with Lists now fully supported, bringing us another step closer to general release.

Alongside the platform work, we've wrapped up the rollout of both the Dotdigital and Mailchimp integration upgrades – so if you've been waiting for those improvements to land on your account, they're now live for everyone.

Here's all the details.

What's new?

This release includes:

  • Improvements to Donorfy running in Evo tabs, including a fixed header for improved search experience
  • Timeline entries now sorted by time within each day
  • Completed rollout of the Dotdigital and Mailchimp integration upgrades
  • Lists support added to the new Donorfy API
  • Membership, Recurring Payment Instruction and duplicate-checking improvements
  • Performance improvements across Lists, Dashboards and the duplicate check process
  • A range of bug fixes addressing issues raised by customers and partners

These updates are applied automatically to your Donorfy account, you don't have to do anything to benefit from everything below.

Evo platform & Donorfy in tabs

Following the move to the Evo platform, we have completed a significant tidy-up of how Donorfy behaves inside Evo:

  • Donorfy's header (search, Add/Recent actions and Tasks) is now fixed in place as you scroll, so Donorfy search is always available.
  • Scroll Position Retained - Switching away from a Donorfy tab in Evo and back again no longer resets the page to the top.
  • "Open in Evo Tab" Everywhere - The "open in Evo tab" option has been added to many more links across Donorfy, including Constituent options, Batch Transactions, Triggers and Recurring Income.
  • More Reliable Multi-Tab Opening - Right-clicking to open several records in new browser tabs in quick succession now works reliably.
  • Clearer Access Messaging - Users who sign in via Access Identity but do not have access to Donorfy now see a clear "no permission" message instead of being returned to the login screen.
  • Security Centre Tidy-Up - The legacy two-factor authentication component has been removed for Evo tenants, with a direct link to manage security settings in Access Identity, since 2FA is now managed there.
  • Simplified User Administration - The "Invite User" tab is now hidden when running in Evo, as user invitations are managed through Evo.

Sort timeline

Timeline entries on a Constituent profile are now sorted by time within each day, with the newest first. Previously entries were ordered by date only, so items recorded on the same day could appear in an arbitrary order. Where no time is recorded against an entry, it continues to be treated as the start of the day.

This was one of our most requested ideas from the Donorfy community!

Dotdigital integration upgrade (rollout complete)

The upgrade of the Donorfy integration with Dotdigital to their latest API (v3) is now complete and rolled out:

  • All contact operations use Dotdigital's current, actively supported endpoints.
  • The integration routes to the correct regional endpoint for your Dotdigital account.
  • Bulk import handling has been modernised, with improved handling of preferences and address book assignments.
  • No action is required on your part - your existing settings, address books and sync configurations remain unchanged.

Mailchimp integration enhancements (rollout complete)

The Mailchimp improvements introduced last month have now completed their rollout, together with a number of refinements:

  • Automated Nightly Sync - The opt-in overnight sync to keep your Mailchimp audiences up to date is now fully available.
  • Clearer Sync Notifications - When you run a sync from a list that contains no updates, you now receive an email telling you there was nothing to sync, rather than being pointed at an empty sync preview.
  • Tidier Sync History - Pending syncs are no longer listed in the sync history log, so the log only reflects syncs that have actually been actioned.
  • One Sync at a Time - Only one sync can now run at a time; if a pending sync already exists on the list used for the nightly sync, it is superseded automatically.
  • Timeline Accuracy - Mailchimp campaign entries are no longer duplicated on the Constituent timeline when the Mailchimp History filter is toggled.
  • Reliability Fixes - Resolved issues where some constituents were not receiving their expected tags in Mailchimp during partial syncs.

New Donorfy API: Lists

We are continuing to develop and expand the new Donorfy API. This month's focus was Lists, giving integrations full control over list definitions and the ability to retrieve list data:

List Definitions

  • Create a List - Create a new list definition via the API.
  • Update a List - Update an existing list definition.
  • Delete a List - Remove a list definition.
  • Available Filters - Retrieve the filters available for a given list type, so integrations can build valid lists programmatically.
  • Available Columns - Retrieve the columns available for a list
  • List Permissions - List access respects your existing Donorfy permissions.

Running Lists & Retrieving Results

  • Run a List and Check Progress - Start a list run and retrieve its status, plus a history of previous runs.
  • Paginated Results - Retrieve list results in pages, suitable for large data sets.
  • Cancel a Run - Cancel a list run that is in progress.
  • Visualisations - Retrieve chart-ready data for a list.

Other API Work

  • Campaigns - Retrieve a single campaign by ID.
  • Sandbox Support - The new API can now be used against your sandbox tenant.
  • Continued work on the published API documentation ahead of general release.

Memberships, recurring income & data quality

  • Expected Payments Respect Membership Paid-Up-To Dates - Where a membership is paid up beyond the current month (including lifetime memberships), expected payments are no longer generated for that Recurring Payment Instruction.
  • Manually Allocate Unmatched RPI Allocations - Where Donorfy could not unambiguously match an incoming payment allocation to a Recurring Payment Instruction detail line, you can now select the correct detail line yourself and permanently link the allocation.
  • More Accurate Duplicate Detection - The duplicate checker's scoring has been adjusted so that records sharing only an email address (with differing names, addresses and identifiers) are no longer eligible for automatic merging. This reduces the risk of unrelated organisations being merged.

Performance improvements

  • Duplicate Check - The duplicate check process has been reworked to complete significantly faster on larger databases, removing the timeouts and knock-on slowdowns some larger customers experienced. Duplicate checks also no longer restart while one is already in progress, and stalled checks are handled correctly.
  • List Pages - Unnecessary calls made on every List page load have been removed, improving load times and stability when opening and saving Lists.
  • Dashboards - Dashboard loading has been optimised to fetch widget data far more efficiently, noticeably reducing load time for dashboards with many widgets.
  • List Visualisations - Fixed a high-failure-rate operation behind list visualisations, making saving and updating visualisations reliable.

What about bug fixes?

Forms

  • Fixed an issue where donation forms could fail silently if a visitor rejected cookies on the host website, which prevented Google reCAPTCHA from loading and stopped the donation from being submitted
  • Resolved an issue where Stripe transactions were occasionally not created on form completion, leaving the form marked as processed with no transaction recorded.
  • Fixed a problem where the Recruitment Campaign was not applied to organisation constituents created via a form.
  • Resolved an issue where membership amounts displayed as "£NaN" for users whose browser language was not English.

Memberships & Recurring Income

  • Fixed an issue where a transaction manually linked to a Recurring Payment Instruction was not linked to the underlying RPI allocation, which meant the RPI number was missing from Lists.
  • Resolved a problem where an RPI could report "Subscription has no active Payment Method" and generate a duplicate errored expected payment each month.
  • Fixed an issue where Recurring Payment Instruction update notifications could be linked to the wrong constituent after Online Fundraising contacts were merged.

GoCardless

  • Resolved an issue where recent GoCardless changes could create duplicate transactions with no payout reference.
  • Fixed a problem where disconnecting GoCardless left the "Direct Debit by GoCardless" option stuck on existing forms.

Constituent Profile & Timeline

  • Fixed a number of display issues on the Constituent profile, including the Giving Stats grid breaking when the timeline was opened or a timeline filter was selected, content overlapping the fixed header when scrolling, and blank areas appearing on the page.
  • Resolved an issue where the History tab of a constituent's Preference Centre would load indefinitely.
  • Fixed an issue preventing Campaigns from being opened from the Campaigns list for some customers.

Lists & Reporting

  • Fixed an issue where National ID numbers were displayed as decimal numbers with thousands separators in Custom Lists.
  • Resolved a problem where Recurring Payment Instruction lists returned incorrect results when a Start Month filter was entered as a month name rather than a number.
  • Fixed an issue where only one of several custom fields sharing the same description was included in a list download.
  • Resolved an issue where the status message from a custom Accounts Download was overwritten when the download completed.

Triggers & Email

  • Fixed an issue preventing trigger actions from being re-ordered.
  • Resolved a problem where custom formatting (fonts, colours and spacing) applied to email templates was not retained when the template was saved and reopened.
  • Fixed an issue preventing Gmail accounts from being authorised in Email Server Settings.

Gift Aid & Transactions

  • Fixed several issues with Gift Aid declarations on batch transaction entry: the Gift Aid Campaign is no longer treated as a required field, the campaign from the batch template is now recognised on individual entries, and it is again possible to add a declaration where no fields are editable
  • Resolved an issue where transactions added between 23:00 and 04:00 did not have an associated payment record created.

Integrations

  • Fixed an issue where the "Go to Donorfy" link in Xero took users to the home page instead of the relevant constituent.
  • Resolved issues with the Enthuse integration where event registration payments were imported against the wrong product, and where registration fees were counted as donations on fundraising page totals.

API (v1)

  • Fixed an issue where list details returned a null row count and row count date instead of the number of rows and the date the list was last run.
  • Recurring Payment Instructions can no longer be created without a currency.
  • Connection types can no longer be created with a blank description.

Data Protection & Data Integrity

  • Fixed an issue where an anonymous donor constituent created by a JustGiving campaign could not be erased and could retain a reference to the deleted record.
  • Resolved an issue where the main contact reference was not cleared when a constituent was changed from a group to a non-group type.

Sign-In

  • Fixed an issue where users with a large number of roles or permissions could become stuck in a login loop and be unable to access Donorfy.

What's next?

The following work is in progress and not yet available. We will confirm availability in a future release:

  • Enthuse Integration V2 - A substantially rebuilt Enthuse integration is well underway. This month we completed the underlying data retrieval and staging work for payments, entries and fundraisers, a new data quality layer that validates staged records and identifies potential duplicates before they reach your database, and most of the guided switchover wizard that will let you move from the current integration to V2 with configurable duplicate-checking thresholds. The new integration remains behind a feature switch while we complete and test the switchover process.
  • Donorfy API v2 - Continued work towards general release, including public API documentation and further endpoint coverage.
  • Connectors for Charity Suite - Early work on connectors to link Donorfy with other Access charity products.
