Managing the finance team at Stoke Newington School, Mylene Joa-Longartt Head of Finance uses Access Education Finance and Budgeting to help run a completely paperless department. Here, Mylene explains the benefits of going paperless and how the software has helped.
I joined Stoke Newington School in January 2019, having worked with both large trusts and maintained schools I’ve used a number of different software packages over the years. The Access product is certainly strong, helping to streamline the department and also save on resources.
Previously, the sheer volume of administrative tasks were impacting efficiency and at times created a real bottleneck. Now, via a fully digital system staff can upload receipts and invoices, as well as adding any comments or required authorisation messages. Our school site is fairly big, so this also saves us running around from department to department getting the required information.
The ability to integrate Access Education Finance with Budgets provides me with a brilliant overview of the school’s finances and helps me quickly identify any worrying trends or oversights that need attention. As well as preventing any costly errors, it also ensures we can allocate resources in the best possible manner - ensuring every pupil gets the education they deserve.
Unlike other systems, we can create unlimited user profiles which was a real bonus during lockdown.
The transition to homeworking really was seamless, allowing the whole school team to focus more on supporting pupils through such a difficult time.
