Growth needs flexibility: scaling across verticals and continents

I’ve been with Auxo since day one,

said Carrie Sheen, IT Operations Director.

From the very beginning, innovation, community and infrastructure were part of the business strategy. We knew that if we were going to scale and stay agile, we had to get our tech right.

Auxo’s core belief – that technology should empower people – not replace them has shaped every decision in their stack, and that belief led them to a long-term partnership with Access.

People are everything to us, and we know empowered people are the engine of our business. So, we work with solutions that help us empower them and Access has been a key part of that journey.

With operations spanning multiple sectors including construction, logistics, healthcare, education, and technology, Auxo isn’t a one-size-fits-all agency. Each division has different workflows, clients, and compliance needs.

Our head office is in Watford, but our growth is global. We’re strong in APAC and we’ve launched in Australia, with a strong focus on healthcare and education. Our company mantra is ‘Countries, not counties.’ It’s about thinking bigger. Our clients are growing internationally, so we need to match that pace.

Auxo’s growth has been strategic and organic, but rapid expansion introduces operational strain and silos that need to be addressed to compete as a powerful talent solutions provider.

Recruitment is a rollercoaster; it has ups and downs and you can’t always predict which vertical will boom next. That’s why it’s essential that our technology is flexible, scalable, and doesn’t hold us back.

Why Access? Integration, trust, and a future-proof ecosystem

Auxo’s journey with Access Recruitment began with products that were later acquired by Access, but what could’ve been a complex setup evolved into a more powerful, unified recruitment suite.

We were already using tools that became Access’ solutions. So, we didn’t jump ship, we evolved with them. What we saw over time is that Access isn’t just acquiring tools, they’re making them better, making them integrate, and building a true system that works together.

Powering productivity with Vincere

At the centre of Auxo’s front office is Vincere, the recruitment CRM and ATS platform used by over 140 recruiters in the business.

Vincere is our daily engine. Our sales teams, delivery consultants, everyone, they live in it. What makes it work is how intuitive it is. When new people join and say, ‘Oh, I’ve used Vincere before, I love it,’ that’s gold. That’s a real testament to the system.

What’s more, Vincere gives teams visibility and consistency.

If someone’s on holiday or moves departments, it’s easy to pick up where they left off, because the data’s all there. That’s only possible when people actually use the system properly, and Vincere makes that possible.

Turning raw data into real-time decisions

Data is at the core of Auxo’s operating model. Their leadership relies on up-to-the-minute, cross-product insight to make decisions.

Data drives every decision we make at leadership level, but that only works if the data going in is right. That’s why user adoption is such a big focus. You can’t make good decisions on bad data.

The team works with Access to create powerful, visual dashboards for board-level decision-making.

We’re obsessed with dashboards. I always say, if you can’t read a dashboard in five to seven seconds, it’s too complex. We’re constantly refining them, trying to make them sharper, more focused.

Still, this work requires cross-functional support.

We’re working to make sure all the data is in Access Data Engine. We’re using analysts to manipulate it and build dashboards that give our leadership what they need at a glance.

Automating payroll, billing, and back-office modernisation

Our back office is powered by Access Pay and Bill to handle the complexity of global payroll, multiple currencies, and changing compliance needs.

We’re not just running UK payroll. We’ve got businesses in Australia, APAC, Europe, it’s a lot. So, for us, Access Pay & Bill isn’t just software, it’s critical infrastructure. We need to automate if we want to keep scaling. Automation through Access Pay & Bill is essential.

That transformation is ongoing and supported every step of the way.

Access Customer Success Managers are helping us figure out the right workflows, the right setup. We need that hand-holding, especially when dealing with global payroll. It’s not just plug-and-play, you need guidance.

The reality of AI in recruitment

Auxo isn’t chasing AI trends for the sake of it. Carrie is pragmatic about what’s useful, what’s hype, and what really matters when evaluating next-gen tools.

The real power of AI is when it mimics human behaviour in useful ways, without losing authenticity. We don’t want emails that sound robotic, we want AI that reflects our brand and tone.

Carrie sees AI as a productivity booster, especially when layered on top of existing workflows, but she’s careful to educate business leaders about realistic expectations.

AI is special, but it’s not magic. People think it’ll do everything for you, but you still need to feed in data. There has to be human interaction and intervention.

What’s more, she cautions against all the shiny new tech on the market and falling for brand polish.

There are so many tools that do the same thing, but because they’re marketed differently, people think they’re new. You have to strip away the shiny marketing and focus on what the tool actually does.

For Auxo, the decision criteria are simple:

  • “Does it integrate?”
  • “Will it save time?”
  • “Will it deliver ROI?”

Culture change and the power of super users

With 250+ users and frequent team changes, Auxo faces the same challenge as many recruitment agencies, which is keeping people engaged with the tech.

User adoption is never done. In recruitment, there’s high turnover. There’s always someone new to train, something new to roll out. It never ends.

That’s why Auxo makes adoption a cultural priority, from their MDs to consultants.

We expect our MDs to lead the charge. If they believe in the tech, their teams will follow. It has to come from the top.

Then sometimes, user adoption takes care of itself.

It’s always a win when someone joins the business already trained on Vincere. It shows we’ve picked the right platform and it means they hit the ground running.

Trust, security, and a partner that understands the business

In a global business handling sensitive data is non-negotiable.

I’ve heard horror stories about AI tools accessing the wrong data like someone typing ‘What’s the CEO’s salary?’ and it pops up. That’s terrifying.

For Carrie, having a partner like Access with strict security protocols is essential.

We always tell clients: Don’t worry, Access has top-tier security. That gives us confidence, it protects our people and our reputation.

But trust goes deeper than compliance, it’s about understanding.

Access doesn’t just provide tools. They understand how we work. They know our business. That’s what makes the partnership work.

What’s next for Auxo talent and Access Recruitment suite

Auxo’s roadmap includes deeper adoption of Access tools, including:

  • Access Copilot to enhance front-office productivity
  • Enhanced Volcanic websites tailored for global audiences
  • Exploring Elay for marketing automation
  • Scaling HireAra to speed up candidate submissions
  • Continued evolution of Access Evo for reporting, permissions, and workflows

But Carrie’s focus isn’t on rushing into new tools, it’s about getting it right.

We want to slow down, work with Access on discovery, and get implementations of new technology right the first time to meet our needs.

That includes getting closer to users.

The story from management is often very different from what the users actually need. That’s why Access working directly with our users is so important.

Final thoughts

When asked how important the relationship with Access is, Carrie ends with:

Access are the experts in the tech, Auxo are the experts in our business, but the two have to gel together. That’s when real value happens.

With specialist CSMs, a shared focus on discovery, and a product roadmap that’s constantly evolving, the partnership is more than vendor-customer, it’s co-creation.

You don’t get this level of partnership off the shelf. It’s something you build, and with Access, we’re building something that sets us up, not just for now, but for what’s next.
