3PL NX Group grows business with Access WMS

The Client
The NX Group are a 3PL (third-party logistics) company and supplier of integrated supply chain services and logistics solutions. Based in Lutterworth, with a number of accreditations including ROSPA and UKWA, NX are dedicated to growing their business with an emphasis on quality and safety.
Sebastiaan Huizeling, Project Manager for NX Transport, explains that NX is a third party business and a very technology-driven one. Sebastiaan is responsible for overseeing all current security and storage projects and is responsible for implementing warehouse management systems within the business.
Sebastiaan’s main objectives are to deliver a project within the deadline, within the budget and, also, within the parameters set out by the business!
The Challenge
NX Group were having difficulty managing stock allocation across the warehouse and in stock placement meaning that time and money was being lost. They needed to replace the antiquated Excel system that the company was using previously. Sebastiaan said:
“We identified the need for an easy-to-use Warehouse Management System (WMS) which would allow stock to be moved around the warehouse and which would offer user-friendly flexibility.”
The Solution
Sebastiaan explains the issues they faced when going to market for new warehouse management software (WMS).
“The difficult thing with finding any WMS is that there’s a large variety out there in the market place, and not all of them give you a lot of flexibility in terms of what you’re looking for, they’re
all quite rigid in terms of what they do.”
NX chose the Access WMS as it fitted their needs perfectly in terms of simplicity, flexibility and efficiency. NX had, previously, been using an Excel system which was outdated and not sufficient for the company’s growing needs.
The Result
Sebastiaan says that the difference with the new system has been tremendous.
“As you can imagine working on Excel previously and then moving over to an effective WMS has made a huge difference. Access WMS is such an approachable system, it’s easy to use, easy to pick up and the way we’ve been able to service customers, especially online, has had a massive positive impact on the business.”
NX Transport are now able to deliver a better service to their customers. They can now quickly log on and locate where the stock is.
“Things are a lot better now. We’re in a very good place and we’re able to attract a lot more customers with the service that we’re able to offer and it allows us to grow as a business. The amount of customers we’ve been able to attract and the growth we’ve seen since introducing Access WMS in September has been very good.”
