Access acquires Safety Media Ltd

The Access Group, today announced the acquisition of Safety Media Ltd, the UK’s market leader in Health & Safety e-learning and risk management & compliance workflow solutions. Only months after the acquisitions of Unicorn Training, Socrates and Riliance, Access sees the addition of Safety Media to its Digital Learning and Compliance Division, as yet further confirmation of its intent to be the solution provider of choice to the UK’s thousands of mid-market and growing businesses.

Safety Media’s health and safety software portal, will be made available through Access Workspace - the cloud-based platform for collaboration and communication in the workplace. Overall the solution set comprises e-learning, risk assessment and risk management tools, online incident reporting and management, site or departmental audit facilities and online document storage and management. With more than 100 health, safety and compliance e-Learning courses, provided in more than 21 languages, including more than 80 RoSPA approved EHS courses, Access will be able to support businesses to deliver on every aspect of their health and safety training strategies.

Starting business more than 30 years ago as a creator and distributor of Safety Videos, Safety Media  is now the recognised leader for EHS e-learning in the UK market. Safety Media joins Access with revenues in excess of £5m and in more than 1400 customers, across 76 countries, including key names such as Adidas, Foot Locker, Liberty International Underwriters, University of Derby, Volvo, Levis, NHS Scotland, NATO, Chelsea Football Club and 3M.

As part of The Access Group, Safety Media will further strengthen its position in the Digital Learning space, especially in the Health, Safety and Compliance sector. Continued investment will ensure the development of the Access content library for this and other training, risk management and compliance needs; across multiple industries beyond the leadership position Access already holds in the Insurance and Financial Services sectors. With Access already a major provider of other business critical software solutions in heavily regulated sectors like Education, Not for Profit and Health & Social Care, the potential for growth is significant.

Chris Bayne, CEO of Access, commented, “The Global LMS market is already large, with revenues of just over £2Bn in 2018 and estimated revenues of over £7Bn by 2023. The UK holds an impressive share of this market and Access is now undoubtedly one of the major players. We know many of our existing and future clients are coming under increased pressure for training, risk management and compliance, driven by increased legislation and regulation in their industries, which is why we have moved to make these solutions part of Access Workspace. By enhancing a company’s ability to incorporate digital learning, risk management and compliance into the same platform that their people use every day to do their job, we believe that uptake will increase and monitoring adherence and completion will become simpler and even more cost effective.”

Toby Roberts, MD of Safety Media also shares, “We believe Access will provide the perfect home for our customers, solutions and people. Access is fully committed to help us enhance the depth and range of our solutions and content libraries which will extend the breadth of the Access Digital Learning & Compliance Division and make an excellent addition to the Access Workspace suite.  Everyone at Safety Media is now committed to helping make Access the company of choice for Digital Learning, Risk Management and Compliance across multiple industries. Our market leading suite of solutions, supported by a comprehensive content library being made more broadly available in a rapidly growing market will see the future with Access significantly enhancing our leadership position in this space.”
