Access World VIP Sponsors NetApp shine spotlight on Data Security

Melissa Willingale

Access World VIP sponsors NetApp shone a spotlight on Security at Access World 2019, held at the iconic Wembley Stadium, on Thursday 21 November.

Throughout the day NetApp hosted busy and informative sessions on data security, helping attendees understand the responsibilities SaaS vendors and IT teams both have in protecting data held on the cloud.

The topic was particularly timely as software as a service (SaaS) is becoming the predominant delivery method for new software applications, with the market growing at roughly five times the rate of the on-premise software market.

Speaking at the event NetApp enterprise account manager Steve Zaum commented “The key talking point for us has been Office 365 and the protection of the data that customers have within that service. It’s a common misconception that Microsoft will protect the data whereas, in reality they’re offering an SLA around the service and not the protection of the data. So, that’s been something that’s been a hot topic for people I’ve spoken to and something that’s been of great interest”

Nick Williams, managing director of the Cloud Hosting division at Access added “Cyber security’s a really important issue for not only us as data guardians but also for our customers as well. So, this service that we’ve launched here at Access World is a good opportunity to demonstrate that we take security seriously and that there’s options in our portfolio to deliver into our customers as well.”

Those attending the sessions benefitted from an engaging presentation that busted common myths around cloud-based storage and security, as well as exploring some of the new options available to companies to back-up and protect their data. Attendees also had the opportunity to explore and discuss their individual security needs with experts from both the Access Cloud team and NetApp.

“It’s great having NetApp here today because they’re obviously a real enterprise-class player in the storage arena. It gives our customers confidence that we’re underpinning their software with Tier 1 storage, which it is, and it also gives them a chance to talk to our customers and engage with them on their direct storage requirements, so it’s a real pleasure to have them here.” Nick Williams added.

Access World is one of the biggest software industry conferences in the UK. Over 1,000 customers and industry professionals from a range of sectors were this year invited to the iconic Wembley Stadium to network and gain insight into how technology is transforming the workplace. This is the second year NetApp has partnered with Access during the event.

“Access World’s been fantastic, it’s something we’ve been involved in for the last two years it’s amazing to see the attendance here this year again. And it’s really testament to the brand that Access has and I think the value that customers get working with Access Group.” Steve commented.
