Hajos, Anstee & Associates is a Sydney-based two partner practice that employs a total of 11 team members. The team services more than 700 clients including group structures focusing on small and medium enterprises.

What were the challenges? 

The team was using multiple resources for practice management and invoicing, including a combination of Microsoft Word, Excel, Quickbooks and MYOB to prepare and lodge tax returns. This led to potential loss of data accuracy and integrity, and man hours wasted maintaining multiple databases. However, it was the fragmented business systems along with the lack of technology support by their practice software providers that pushed the team to search the market for new tax and practice management software. The team was not willing to pay for an unsupported product or upgrade their server just to ensure product compatibility.

The Solution

Hajos, Anstee & Associates were looking for a product that was easy to use, practical and recommended by trusted industry colleagues. The team evaluated a number of potential solutions and ultimately selected HandiSoft following a recommendation from a neighbouring accounting firm that had been working with HandiSoft for over a decade.

As accountants, the team is traditionally conservative, so taking the leap to adopt a new software platform was a significant decision for the firm. However, the transition to HandiSoft was seamless. Data migration was both quick and easy, and the firm was guided by the Professional Services team and highly responsive technical support team, both in person and over the phone. With HandiSoft being 100% modular, the firm was able to purchase only the modules it required, however Hajos, Anstee and Associates have identified a number of additional attributes the product covers that are extremely useful additions to the management of a growing practice.

Results

HandiSoft’s integration of modules enabled the team at Hajos, Anstee & Associates to centralise hours, billing and invoicing, thereby maximising the efficiency of the solution. The benefits of integration quickly became apparent when the business was able to reduce its number of software suppliers, link source documents within Document Manager, and seamlessly transfer data from HandiLedger into HandiTax

Additionally, Time+Billing, with its integrated timesheets and Job flow management means that at the end of each job, the required information is easily accessible, allowing the team to prepare bills immediately without having to duplicate data or reference another system.

HandiSoft enabled Hajos, Anstee & Associates to improve the consistency and distribution of their reporting by allowing the team to generate financial reports with minimal tailoring, as the bulk of the work is performed by the client accounting software. This feature, along with the integration of modules and other useful features continues to save valuable time.
