Access FocalPoint is now Access Financials
Today’s software is no longer just for your finance department. A wide range of people need to enter and approve information such as timesheets, purchase orders and expenses, subject to tight control and approval.
Access FocalPoint is our project accounting software that enables businesses to manage project finances and workflows more effectively. The software has evolved into a cloud-based solution, giving you top security and allowing you to access all your data on any device, anywhere. This new cloud-based solution is Access Financials Operations, part of Access Financials.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between Focal Point and Access Financials?
Access FocalPoint is now Access Financials. FocalPoint has transitioned into the cloud-based financial management system, now called Access Financials. The difference, therefore, is primarily in the name and the underlying technology. FocalPoint was the product name for project accounting functionality, which is now a key part of the broader, integrated Access Evolve suite.
Is everything from FocalPoint available in Access Financials?
Yes, the core functionality has been preserved and enhanced within the new platform, either as part of Access Financials or the wider Access Evolve suite. Key features of the old FocalPoint, such as timesheet entry, project costing, and expense management, are still available with additional benefits like cloud security and multi-device access.
Do I use the same login credentials for Access Financials as I did for FocalPoint?
Since FocalPoint was a legacy on-premise system and the new platform is a cloud-based solution, the login method has changed. Access Financials uses a single-sign-on (SSO) system through Access Evo. When a migration occurs, users are provided with new login credentials to access the cloud environment.
How does the new cloud-based Access Financials compare to the old on-premise FocalPoint?
The primary differences are in deployment, access, and security.
- Deployment: The old FocalPoint was an on-premise application requiring a local server, while Access Financials is hosted in the cloud.
- Access: Access Financials allows users to access all data and features from any device, anywhere, using a web browser, eliminating the geographical and hardware limitations of the on-premise system.
- Security & Updates: As a cloud-based solution, Access Financials offers top-tier, enterprise-level security and automatically receives updates and new features, whereas the old system would have required manual updates.
Does Access FocalPoint still integrate with Access Dimensions?
Yes, but the relationship has evolved. In the past, on-premise versions of Access Dimensions and FocalPoint were often used together. Now, with the new cloud migration, The Access Group offers a comprehensive "FlightPath" service to help companies integrate and upgrade their legacy systems. This process ensures that the combined functionality of both Dimensions and FocalPoint (now both part of the Access Financials ecosystem) can be maintained and migrated to the cloud as a single, unified solution.
