The system is efficient, processes data quickly and doesn’t take a great deal of resource to manage. As a result, we can see what is happening on a real-time basis, which is very important. It gives us lots of intelligence about our local care market, which we’re required to have under the Care Act, but it also helps Commissioners better understand and plan the services they should deliver.
Good management information has never been more important, especially around Adult Care, and we have been working with Access to implement their ground-breaking Landscape product. This is now in place and is changing the way we make decisions and view our trends and data. Given the challenge of the last year we have appreciated both the expertise and flexibility in approach shown by Affinity and their personal commitment to develop and adapt solutions to meet our specific needs.
As a council, and a region, we have used the power of technology and data to transform our care services in a way that can be embraced across the sector. With the current market pressures, we hope our mantra of ‘do once not 11 times’ may eventually allow councils with social care responsibility to ‘do once not 206 times’
As a small group of local authorities it’s brilliant that providers are able to have a view of Middlesbrough and the wider area. We are hoping that being able to view data on a granular level and understand service needs across boundaries will help providers to find new, innovative solutions. For example, a new care solution could be working across Tees Valley, as opposed to just focussing in on one local authority. Being able to group data together as Tees Valley undoubtedly adds more weight to the MPS.
