What is Bradford Factor Scoring?

The Bradford Factor is a score used to measure unplanned absence at work. HR teams can use Bradford Factor scoring to flag users whose time off has become a cause for concern, and react appropriately.

The formula is B = S2 x D where:

B is the Bradford Factor Score

S is the number of seperate instances of absence over a set period

D is the number of days of absence in the same period

The formula is designed to highlight frequent instances of short-term sickness absence e.g. Mondays & Fridays, allowing HR teams to investigate the validity and take action accordingly.
