Potential Future Issues with Internet Explorer and
Silverlight
As you may have seen recently in various IT articles - Microsoft
is to start automatic updates for Internet Explorer, but only if
the user has enabled automatic updating in Windows. To ensure
compatibility Access would ask that you consider disabling
automatic updates, and review the benefits and compatibility issues
before applying the updates within your business. It maybe
your IT department controls the updates out to individual PC's but
worth consideration.

V5 of Microsoft Silverlight has also recently been released which
is used within Access FocalPoint, SelectHR and shortly Workflow
Forms v2. This also uses the automatic update process if you
have this enabled. Our current released versions are
compatible with Microsoft Silverlight V4.
Access have carried out a beta test on Silverlight 5 which
didn't raise any issues but we will not be announcing full
compatibility until our next release to ensure a full test has been
carried out.
We just wanted to make you aware of this feature by Microsoft, to
prevent your users from doing accidental upgrades of Microsoft
Internet Explorer and Silverlight, which may be incompatible with
the version of Access software you are currently using. We
always carry out full testing on the version of browser which is
available at time of release and the browser you are using needs to
be considered when upgrading software.
