Playing games pays off for Grove House
Harpenden, UK - 29th January 2008 -
Harpenden software company, Armstrong Consultants presented Grove
House Hospice with a cheque this week, for £1,000 as a result
of fundraising activities by staff. The cheque was presented to
Fundraising Director Paul Parrish at Grove House, St Albans by
Armstrong Marketing Manager, Claire Jones.
Armstrong staff had been
busy raising money for Grove House throughout 2007. During the
year, 'Dress Down Fridays' were introduced, with office-based staff
paying £1 to dress casually. One particularly talented member
of the team made a full size arcade game from scratch, featuring
over 1,000 games for the office kitchen - staff paid 10p a go, with
all proceeds donated to the Hospice.
Chris Bayne, Managing Director at Armstrong commented: "We are
really proud to support a local organisation like Grove House. They
provide such valuable support and help within our area and it's
been great to see the staff raise so such money through activities
at work. The arcade game in particular has proved to be a great
success, both in raising money and bringing the team together in
the office."
The money raised will be going towards the running costs of Grove
House and in particularly, the development of 'Grove House at
Home'. This will offer a 24 hour 7 day a week home nursing care
service for the residents of St Albans and Harpenden, enabling the
seriously ill the choice to be cared for within their own
homes.
