Armstrong receive top accolade for the second year
Harpenden, UK - 14 February 2008 -
Leading software developer and reseller, Armstrong Consultants has
been awarded Three Star accreditation from Best Companies for the
second year running; and is one of only 48 UK companies to receive
the honour. The award recognises Armstrong's commitment to engage
with its staff, with the top-rated Three Stars acknowledged as
'extraordinary'. The award was presented at a celebration event at
The Cumberland Hotel, London on Wednesday 30th January 2008.
Best Companies, the organisation behind the prestigious 'Sunday
Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For' lists, surveyed the staff
at Armstrong and these responses were converted into an index
score. These questions provided comprehensive feedback across eight
areas of workplace engagement including leadership, well being,
personal growth and fair deal.
Jonathan Austin, Chief Executive, Best Companies commented:
"Armstrong Consultants' 2008 accreditation is an outstanding
achievement. It confirms their commitment to the on-going journey
of workplace engagement. Our role is to set a rigorous benchmark so
that organisations can become even better employers."
The four founding directors of Armstrong strive to maintain a
hands-on approach to both running the company and interacting with
all levels of staff. All team members receive six monthly reviews
to highlight any concerns to managers and regular team events are
organised throughout the year.
Chris Bayne, Managing Director, commented: "We are thrilled to be
awarded the top star rating for a second year. For our staff to be
engaged with us as a company results in not only a great atmosphere
to work in but increased productivity and service to our customers.
Following the feedback from the 2007 awards, we have worked hard to
improve on the areas staff identified as important to them and its
great to see that this has made a difference to their working
lives."
2008 saw some amazing results with 653 companies applying to
achieve 'Star Status', a 33.5% increase in applications compared to
2007. 558 organisations made it through the process and since
September, over 140,000 employees from these organisations have
been surveyed.
In total 307 organisations achieved 'Star Status' success;
- 48 organisations achieved Three Star Status
- 117 organisations achieved Two Star Status
- 142 organisations achieved One Star Status

The Accreditation
The Accreditation, developed by Best Companies is based on a star rating system where one star is first class, two stars are outstanding, and three stars are extraordinary.
The Best Companies survey is designed to measure employee engagement and uses 70 questions to gain a comprehensive view of employee engagement across eight factors. Every company that goes for Best Companies Accreditation is given a Best Companies Index score (BCI). This score (on a scale of 1 to 1000) is defined from employee's responses to the sixteen key questions within the Best Companies survey. 'Star Status' is determined by the 'BCI' score and the specific cut-off points for One, Two, and Three Star Accreditation remain constant year on year.
