Armstrong raises funds for UK cancer charity
Harpenden, UK - 3rd March 2009 - Armstrong
Consultants has raised more than £3,400 for its 'Charity of
the Year', Cancer Research UK. The business software provider and
its staff undertook a range of fundraising activity throughout
2008, including a 20-hour walk for the charity's Relay for Life
event.
Claire Flawn, Marketing Manager for Armstrong Consultants,
commented: "The whole experience was a great challenge. Our team
spirit and the knowledge that we were raising funds for such a
valuable cause kept us all going. Most people have lost someone to
this disease; support to help prevent it is vital. Our thanks go to
everyone who made a donation as we raised £1,590 from this
event alone."
Other fundraising
activity included Armstrong support engineer, Martin Wenham,
dressing in pink for 'Dare to Wear it Pink', much to the amusement
of his colleagues, raising £132. Staff also donated through
Gift Aid and 'dress down Fridays'.
Victoria Gilham, Cancer Research UK's Area Volunteer Manager for
Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, commented, "We were delighted that
Armstrong chose to raise funds for Cancer Research, the support of
businesses and their staff is critical to helping fund the vital
work we do in understanding, preventing and treating cancer."
Armstrong sales consultant, Gareth Evans, who originally put
forward the idea of supporting the charity after he lost his mother
to the disease, also took part in a walk for Breast Cancer Care
last summer, raising around £2,500, with much support from
his work colleagues.
