Armstrong Consultants named as one of the Top 100 Companies to Work for Achieving 17th place in the prestigious Sunday Times Awards 2007
Harpenden, UK - 1st March 2007 -
Leading software developer and reseller, Armstrong Consultants has
been recognised as a top employer in The Sunday Times Best
Companies to Work For 2007 list - coming in the top 20 at number
17. This accolade follows Armstrong's recent success as one of only
42 UK companies to be awarded Three Star Accreditation by Best
Companies, for extraordinary workplace engagement. Managing
Director, Chris Bayne, received the award at a celebration dinner
held on Wednesday 28th February in London.
Armstrong was highly commended for retaining the friendly, relaxed
atmosphere the founding directors aimed to create when the company
was established in 1993. 85% of staff responded that they could
talk openly and honestly with senior managers and 90% felt that
managers don't need to get things done by intimidation. 89% of
employees have confidence in the senior management team of six
directors and 85% are inspired by managing director, Chris
Bayne.
Significantly Armstrong was placed 7th in the fair pay table, with
79.6% of staff happy with the level of pay and benefits received.
Socially, Armstrong was commended for providing a positive
atmosphere for staff to work in. 89% of employees say they have fun
at work, with 85% reporting they can be themselves at work. 90%
also say they have confidence in their colleagues. This all results
in an impressive average length of service of five years.
Employees felt they are offered plenty of opportunities for career
progression within the organisation. The longest-standing and most
successful sales consultant started in 1995 as an office assistant
and some of the project management team started as telephone
support agents.
Armstrong is one of five Hertfordshire companies to make the list
and also one of five in the IT sector.
The awards are part of the biggest and most comprehensive survey of
employee opinion, with 350 companies applying to take part in 2007
and 29,000 employees surveyed. The questionnaire assesses staff
opinion on numerous aspects of their company including leadership,
training, work/life balance and personal growth opportunities. The
results of the staff survey contribute to 90% of the company's
overall ranking.
Chris Bayne, Managing Director, commented: "This is a fantastic
achievement and we are delighted. Our people are at the very core
of Armstrong and staff satisfaction not only creates a great
atmosphere to work in but increased productivity and service to our
customers.
"Taking the time to listen to our staff and ensuring that
everything we do is a team effort has always been a guiding
principle for Armstrong. We strive to recognise and award our
people for their achievements and the contribution they make to the
company. Some members of staff have been with us for over 10 years,
and this commitment and strong work ethic has played massive part
in our continued growth and success."
