Access releases Report Writer module for Dimensions

Colchester, UK - 26 October 2011 - Access has released a new module for its award winning Access Dimensions solution following feedback from its user group on LinkedIn. Members of the 600-strong group were discussing ways to draw out information from the financial software that was simple, and didn't necessarily require bespoke reporting. Access responded by developing and releasing the Report Writer module.

Stuart Allsopp, Chief Technology Officer at Access, said, "There was such a strong demand for a drag and drop style  reporting module that it made perfect sense to create this new tool; LinkedIn is a great vehicle to get close to our customers, listen and respond directly to the needs of our market. By developing Access Report Writer we're giving our customers what they require for their business and increasing the reporting functionality of our software at the same time; it's a win-win situation."

The module offers easy-to-use data dictionaries in 'Plain English', a drag and drop interface, data preview, graphing and the ability to distribute final reports as a PDF, output to Excel or create a report compatible with MS Reporting Services.

Stuart continued, "This complements our existing reporting tools, both standard and ad-hoc, to satisfy reporting needs, offering flexibility, a user-friendly interface and a solution that's sufficiently detailed when it needs to be, but is still simple to use."

Targeted at the non-technical user, Access Report Writer can help overcome a number of challenges users have when compiling reports such as; not knowing where data is located on the system, difficulties in combining data from different functional areas, mixing text reports with graphical information, and selecting, filtering, sorting, grouping and formatting results in a legible format.

"Our aim is to do a lot of the hard work for the user, so we're using plain English field labels to make all the information clear and straightforward to understand. Plus the module is supplied with a variety of data dictionaries, allowing for all types of transactions to have reports generated on pre-grouped data. The module really does help with the creation of reports, by simplifying some of the reporting processes," concluded Stuart.
