A week in the life of Armstrong Consultants
Harpenden, UK - 1st July 2007 - Chris
Watson, an A Level student at Roundwood Park School, recently spent
a week at Armstrong Consultants to gain an insight into the
day-to-day running of a software consultancy. During the week Chris
shadowed various teams within the company including development and
programming, project management and customer support.
As well as discovering the different roles of each team within the
business Chris was set the task to redesign Armstrong's intranet.
The current internal site was out-of-date and consequently staff
didn't really use it. As a result of Chris' improvements the
intranet is now far more user-friendly and will increase the number
of staff who logon to the site to share information and product
updates. Chris also assisted Armstrong's internal IT manager to
build laptops and support any internal IT issues during the
week.
Chris commented: "My time at Armstrong Consultants was a really
valuable experience. The timing was great too, with a University of
East Anglia Open Day visit coming up - part of the course includes
project work, so I'm hoping there might be something suitable that
I can do with Armstrong Consultants."
Phil Walters, Team Leader for Armstrong's Customer Support
Department, commented: "I found Chris very enthusiastic and
helpful. The work he did on our intranet has provided a very useful
service for our off-site staff; something that we have never had
the time to implement."
