Microsoft has seen its share of Windows Vista online users increase every month this year, a study has shown.

According to online promotional solutions provider Net Applications, Windows Vista accounted for a 4.52 per cent share of systems browsing the web in June compared with 0.18 per cent in January.

The findings highlight month on month growth in usage of Windows Vista as a web browser, from 0.93 per cent in February, 2.04 per cent in March, 3.02 per cent in April and 3.74 per cent in May.

In addition, it is now expected that Vista's web browser usage will surpass the share held by its main competitor by the end of August.

According to ZDNet.co.uk, Microsoft is planning to ship its next version of Windows – known as 7 – within a three-year period.

Meanwhile, the firm is currently looking to issue Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista before the year is out.
