Microsoft is to release the new version of Vista on January 30th following several postponements.
The operating system is currently undergoing changes to prevent further delays and evade antitrust actions, marketoracle.co.uk reports.
Earlier this year, the European Union hinted that they may outlaw the system because some of the software breached antitrust laws.
Free upgrades to Vista are to be offered for newly purchased computers so that users can buy Windows XP during the Christmas period while upgrades from Windows XP Home Edition to Windows Vista Home Basic and Windows Vista Home Premium are to receive a 50 per cent discount.
Buyers of Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition will be able to upgrade to Windows Vista Business Edition.
According to the website, Microsoft Vista will boast features such as an instant file search option, improved security with antispyware, improved software setup and maintenance and a better user account system.
The product was formerly due to be launched during the second half of this year.
