The final code for Windows Vista has been made available to developers a fortnight before its business launch.
According to CNET News.com, the operating system has been finalised and the code was made available to some program subscribers.
TechNet and MSDN subscribers were able to access the code on Thursday while free copies of the system are now to be handed out to members of the technical beta programme who filled out bug reports during the system's testing stages.
Microsoft, the system's creator, may offer Windows Vista and Office 2007 to volume licence consumers at the end of the month, the website states.
It has also recently said that multistream cablecards which allow two digital TV signals to be simultaneously decoded through the same device will be out for the Windows Vista Media Centre after not being delivered in time for release with TiVo.
The company states that customers wishing to use Vista with their PCs should ensure their computers have a modern processor, 512 MB of system memory and a graphics processor which is DirectX 9 capable.
