Windows Vista and the newest version of Internet Explorer appear to
comply with antitrust conditions laid out in 2002, a report has
shown.
A joint status report issued by Microsoft and the US Department of
Justice stated that the company had been carrying out "extensive
testing" of the software and was meeting operating conditions.
According to the report, Microsoft was "pleased" with the success
of Vista and had "addressed all outstanding middleware-related bug
issues prior to Vista being released to manufacturing".
Additionally, the report states that the company has been offering
a downloadable program to competitors so that they can make their
systems Vista-ready.
This is to limit the chance of difficulties arising when people
change their default software and also to ensure third-party
applications are easy to find in surfaces such as the start
menu.
Microsoft has also invited other software makers to join them
alongside the engineering process at their laboratory to make sure
their systems are ready for Vista, Yahoo! News reports.
