Time and effort required for accounting software 'pays off'

Accounting software
can take time to install as it "doesn't just come out of a
box", firms have been warned.
Paul Hibbert, finance manager of the Birmingham YMCA, told
AccountingWeb that although it may take a little extra effort to
set up
accounting packages than other forms of IT, it
is worth it in the long run.
"You have to create the forms and data input screens you need as an
organisation, but then you can automate many of the procedures you
need done - so it's worth the effort," he said.
By taking time to ensure all the relevant details are accurate it
becomes more beneficial as the
accounting
software will work specifically for that company, Mr Hibbert
added.
The Birmingham YMCA recently replaced its existing package to
purchase a more up-to-date product, giving the association instant
access to purchasing decisions in real-time.
Accountancy Age recently reported that the main elements companies
are looking for in
accounting packages is reliability and
stability.
