The uptake of SQL Server has been robust since its launch in 2005, a survey has shown.
Findings by Unisphere Research have highlighted that 70 per cent of respondents to a survey about the server were running the database platform, while 42 per cent said they planned to implement more copies within the next 12 months.
On the back of the results, one expert from a database operation firm in the US has advised businesses to ensure they have database automation.
"Database automation is a critical technology for any company deploying SQL Server 2005 at scale," said technology expert Matthew Zito.
The systems are necessary in order to ensure compliance with standards and policies and guard against security problems which newer features of SQL Server may cause, he stated.
According to the survey, 77 per cent of the largest organisations which responded to the study were using 60 or more copies of SQL Server.
Video maker CBT Nuggets has recently released a number of training videos which provide students with 15 hours of teaching to help them learn how to use SQL Server on the job.
