Installing accounting software and other accounting packages
could help small businesses to grow, according to a new
report.
The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) insists embracing IT is
the best way to boost competitiveness.
Its recent study on the role of IT services finds investment in
internet enabled services is of primary importance in attracting
new business opportunities and keeping customers satisfied.
The organisation also urges bosses to view software as a means of
adding value to their business rather than simply to cut
costs.
John Cridland, deputy director-general of the CBI, says: "At a time
of tougher economic conditions and ever-increasing international
competition, it is vital that all firms understand how they can use
IT to drive performance and create goods and services customers
want."
The news comes after a recent poll of IT managers by CIO Connect
found 80 per cent predict they will be forced to make cutbacks over
the next 12 to 18 months as a result of the economic slowdown.
