Scottish financial sector looking "incredibly hot"

News Article - 30 October 2007
Category:

Glasgow is seeing an increasing amount of recruitment for investment and accountancy roles.

Investment jobs across Edinburgh and Glasgow has risen by 43 per cent over the last year, according to recruitment firm Joslin Rowe.

The recruiters also claim that 2,930 permanent Scottish financial services jobs were created in the third quarter of 2007, compared to 2,050 the previous year. The majority of these positions are based in Glasgow.

"The sub-prime crisis has made little impact on the market in Scotland. In fact we are expecting a busy end of year as companies race to fill their headcount quotas," says Joslin Rowe director Margaret Dyer.

She adds the accountancy industry and investment recruitment are "incredibly hot".

According to eFinancial Careers Scotland, fund management hiring is unaffected by the global credit crunch and remains as active as ever and 73 per cent are planning to recruit over the next three months.
