Offices 'go green'

News Article - 12 January 2009
Category:

Businesses concerned about their carbon emissions measurement may be interested to know that property developers are likely to continue their investment in building green office spaces in 2009, one sector commentator has claimed.

Michael Beaven, environmental sustainability spokesperson for the British Council for Offices, added that such individuals could end up being more rigorous about what they invest in over the course of the next 12 months.

He explained that all of the evidence suggested that occupiers and developers were committed to sustainability and would continue to be so in 2009.

"Sustainable buildings are better and healthier buildings and in many cases are cheaper to operate," Mr Beaven noted.

Meanwhile, Andrew Moore, managing director of British Eco Energy, recently stated that the recession was stimulating the green efforts of many companies in the UK.

He explained that this was because such firms would be keen to take steps to reduce their energy bills.
