Number of Yorkshire accountants 'has increased by 33%'

Recruitment in the financial and
accounting sectors has increased by a third in Yorkshire and the north-east over the past year, according to new findings.
The ECHM's Regional Recruitment Index has found that growth in the industry has been nationwide since 2005, with a 14 per cent rise experienced in the north-west and Manchester, and a 12 per cent increase in the south-east and London, the Yorkshire Post reports.
Outside of London, Leeds has been recorded as the largest centre for both professional and financial services, boasting some 30 national and international banks.
Around 100,000 jobs in the financial services sector were found across Yorkshire, highlighting growth in the area's financial jobs market.
The recruitment index for January of this year found that nearly four-out-of-five accountants and finance workers in Yorkshire and the north-east were satisfied with how much pay they received, compared with around 60 per cent of respondents questioned in London, the south-east, Manchester and the north-west.
