The National Occupational Standards (NOS) for
accounting and
payroll administration are to be reviewed after the Financial Services Skills Council (FSSC) secured funding.
Industry involvement is now being sought by the FSSC for the review of
accounting, internal audit, credit management and
payroll administration, reports Accountancy Magazine.
The intention of the review is to make sure that the NOS are both topical and relevant.
"National Occupational Standards are a great tool for anyone who needs to know what good looks like in a particular job role," Sam Rees Adams, director of education at the FSSC, told the magazine.
"Much of their strength comes from the fact that they are developed by the industry, for the industry, so we are looking for practitioners working in relevant areas to get involved by providing information about the day to day activities that form their job roles and also by reviewing project output as we go along."
The review is due to be completed at the end of April 2009.
It was recently reported in the Financial Times that Brendan Nelson of KPMG and Paul Boyle of the Financial Reporting Council were to join the board of the FSSC from October.
