NHS is fourth-largest consultancy market, survey finds

Category:

The National Health Service (NHS) has increased its spending on consultancy by 26 per cent over the last year, more than the whole manufacturing industry, a survey has found.

Research conducted by Accountancy Age has found that the NHS is now the fourth largest market for consultants, increasing spending in the sector by £67 million, forcing the manufacturing industry into fourth place.

Providing the most revenues for consultants is central government and financial services, which account for more than half of the income brought in by all the consultancy markets combined.

Together, financial services and the government spent £261 on consultancy last year, equating to two-thirds of recorded increases in the seven largest markets.

The findings follow earlier research by Management Consultancy which found that the level of growth experienced by the top 75 consultancy firms last year was lower than in the previous year, equating to lower fee income increases.
