New chief executive for ICAEW

News Article - 27 October 2006
Category:

The new chief executive of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), Micheal Izza, is to oversee a £65,000 institute makeover, according to reports.

With the intention of following a different tack from his predecessor, Eric Anstee, the new chief executive did not disclose details of how his approach will differ, Accountancy Age reports.

Mr Izza said any further consolidation of the institutes will be reviewed but not as a priority: "The challenge is getting the timing right. It will be under review, but is not necessarily at the top of my list."

He added that his main priority would be to expand the institute internationally and seek to cater for the careers of members, promising to be a "listening" chief executive.

"As an institute, we need to build on the progress that has been made over the last three years. My priorities in taking on this role will be to accelerate our international expansion and to continue our drive to enhance the support we provide to our members," he said.

The rebranding and new institute logo were created in connection with Dragon Brand Agency and are due to be unveiled next January.
