Accounting has won praise from an MP for its new
carbon emissions measurement
accounting software.
Tim Yeo, MP for Suffolk South and chairman of the Commons Environmental Audit Committee, attended the launch of a new addition to the current Access
Accounting software package in London last week intended to enhance business performance and competitiveness.
The software company, based in Stratford St Mary, East Anglia, has created a tool that enables firms to measure their
carbon footprint effectively and take action to reduce their environmental impact and improve their business processes, the East Anglian Daily Times reports.
Mr Yeo commented: "In the UK, companies are keen to respond to the growing demand from both customers and employees but what has been lacking is a reliable way of measuring and validating companies' green claims, which is what makes Access
Accounting's new software so valuable."
Access has integrated data from the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the
Carbon Trust into its Access Dimensions software to provide
carbon emissionsmanagement reporting capabilities and help companies meet business goals.
Believed to be the first
accounting system that calculates business
carbon emissions, the new package was unveiled at the Softworld trade show and covers details such as power used or miles travelled.
