Most accountants back the Tories

The majority of accountancy professionals are backing the
Conservative party leader in the race for the future premiership,
it has been revealed.
According to recent reports, around 70 per cent of accountants
think David Cameron deserves more support than chancellor Gordon
Brown, who may be considering joining the running for the
leadership contest, reports Accountancy Age.
Of the 1,000 accountants questioned in a recent survey, most said
that they thought Mr Cameron would be a better friend to small
businesses than the chancellor, with 40 per cent believing red tape
to be the main barrier to small enterprise growth.
In a recent poll by Communicate Research, the Tories received the
highest backing for the next prime ministerial reign, with 40 per
cent of respondents saying they would vote Conservative compared
with Labour's 29 percent.
This is despite most people viewing themselves as being Labour
supporters, with 28 per cent citing Labour compared with the 23 per
cent who felt their values were Conservative.
