Microsoft has announced that its new performance management software package Office PerformancePoint Server 2007 will be available in the UK from October 16th 2007.

According to IT Week, the new suite offers a new planning module to enable users to design budgets and plans, while also fully automating the corporate performance management process.

Steve Morse, business intelligence (BI) sales manager at Microsoft, said: "Setting, monitoring and analysing strategies and budgets is a common process and having this full lifecycle functionality brings down the time it takes to develop these processes from months to weeks or days."

Earlier in the month, Microsoft announced that it had received praise for its efforts within the BI market, ahead of the launch for the latest update of its SQL Server.

The firm was recognised as one of the fastest growing BI vendors in 2006 in a list compiled by IDC and its SQL Server 2005 was named the best online analytical processing server available on the market by the OLAP Report.
