Microsoft has announced that it has begun to take tester
applications for the next update to one of Vista's functions.
The corporation is planning to release the beta-stage update for
the Windows Media Centre function within the Vista operating system
(OS), according to website The Green Button.com.
People wishing to test the update will need to fill out an online
survey which will be submitted to Microsoft, who will then inform
entrants of their choices at the end of May, Media Centre team
program manager Jessica Zahn said in an online forum.
When asked whether the application would be an update to the
current Vista system or for the next version of Windows, Ms Zahn
said: "It's Vista-based, not a 'new' OS."
"We only have so many spots, and we need a diverse group of testers
from across the US and from supported countries," she added.
Microsoft recently stated that it had sold more than 20 million
copies of Windows Vista - more than double the number of Windows XP
copies sold during the same period of time after its launch.
