Microsoft has released a number of free tools to help businesses upgrade their corporate networks to the Vista operating system.
According to website MonstersandCritics.com, among the tools may be Virtual PC 2007, which would help companies which use a virtual environment.
Some businesses have so far not been able to upgrade to the operating system because low-end versions cannot be used in a virtual setting.
The website suggests that the tools are likely to help some companies make budget savings by cutting the amount of labour time used to deploy a large number of the operating system.
One tool - the Application Compatibility Toolkit 5.0 - will provide help for companies in finding out which applications and programs are compatible with Vista, offering advice and solutions with regard to non-compliant features.
In addition, the Volume Activation Management Tool and Key Management Service for Windows Server 2003 will allow for various facilities, including licensing management and volume activation of desktops.
Al Gillen, an analyst at marketing intelligence firm IDC, told Computer Weekly: "The tools Microsoft has delivered will help customers save time and reduce effort both in the planning process and in the deployment phase."
