Microsoft has announced that it is reaching out to the Hispanic community through Spanish seminars on how to use the Vista operating system safely.

The firm has said it will enlist employees who are parents to deliver seminars in Spanish on how people can create a safe computing experience for their families.

According to Microsoft, Windows Vista offers tools for creating such an experience, with robust security features and a parental control centre.

Luis Martinez, Windows Vista developer at Microsoft, said: "The parental control features built into Windows Vista will help families better manage how the PC is used and will help them protect their children."

The computer giant has also launched a Spanish language website for consumers to help them learn more about Vista in their native tongue.

A study by Cowen & Co and CRN magazine recently found that almost half of small and medium-sized businesses plan to have upgraded to Vista by the end of the year.
