Microsoft plans Vista service pack

News Article - 31 August 2007

Software firm Microsoft has announced plans to release the first service pack for Windows vista.

The company's senior vice president of the Windows Core Operating System division, Jon DeVaan, said the business software package would probably be made available during the first quarter of next year.

The company is set to release a beta version for 10,000 people within the next few weeks in order to gain feedback on the new system before the full version is released, Mr DeVaan stated.

Arguing that Vista is one of the best versions of Windows the firm has developed, Mr DeVaan said that the servicing model is aimed at "continuously improving the quality of the code after it is released and keeping up with an evolving PC ecosystem".

Microsoft recently received praise for its business solutions after its SQL Server 2005 was named the best online analytical processing server available on the market by The OLAP Report.
