Manufacturers within the road transport sector are being
encouraged to take part in the newest phases of the Government-led
Red Tape Challenge, which focuses on manufacturing.
The challenge is aimed at allowing transport companies to liaise
with the Government, informing them of regulations that are working
well and ones which should be scrapped for the good of the UK
manufacturing and transport industries.
Terry Scuoler, chief executive of the manufacturers'
organisation EEF, said: "The
burden of regulation weighing down on UK manufacturing has been
rising relentlessly. That's why EEF is backing this important
initiative which gives businesses the opportunity to tell
Government directly which regulations are working, which aren't and
which should be scrapped.
"I urge businesses to get involved - the more evidence we can
offer, the better our chances of reducing inappropriate and
stifling regulation."
Over the coming weeks, the
Red Tape Challenge website will display up to 127 different
regulations manufacturers in the road transport sector deal with on
a daily basis.
These are arranged into four different categories; weights and
measures, products and equipment, intellectual property and export
control.
The Government is keen to know whether the regulations within
these categories should be reformed, merged, simplified or even
scrapped altogether to ensure the most efficient use of red
tape.
Whether it's a haulage company, cargo handler or a courier
service, every business should be looking to improve its efficiency
in the current financial climate.
Transport
business systems make the most of accurate vehicle costing and
its comprehensive reporting allows transport businesses to
seamlessly handle the logistics of their business in real-time
visibility, which is essential to profitability.
With the ability to integrate with your existing business
applications, transport and manufacturing industries can benefit
from centralising everything from payments and remittances to
management reports.
