Management software 'needs improving'

Management software sellers must provide "affordable and
easily-deployable" solutions to consumers to overcome high levels
of project failures and governance, a report has claimed.
Analyst firm Butler Group has made the suggestions in its latest
report on IT governance after finding that many firms which apply
governance technology and processes fail to integrate the IT and
management elements of their business, IT Week reports.
Tim Jennings, the report's author, said that firms were guilty of
paying more attention to IT than to management and
investment.
"CIOs [chief information officers] need to get a mandate from the
board to also manage the business part of IT projects," he
said.
Management software can help bridge some gaps, he stated, however
many solutions are not targeted at smaller businesses.
"There are some competent solutions out there now, but in terms of
their functionality and cost, they are targeted at the largest
companies," he said.
Computer giant Microsoft recently announced that its 2007
management application would be placed in the market from April
1st.
