Knowing carbon emissions measurement 'essential'

It is essential that small and medium-sized enterprises know their carbon emissions measurement and their exact spend when it comes to effectively being able to control costs, one sector commentator had urged.

Erica Russell, a sustainable business advisor from Business Link, said that while this may seem like a simple piece of advice, there were still a number of firms who did not have the information close at hand.

"We know that even for very small businesses being able to know and see what your energy use is can have a big impact on the spend," she added.

Ms Russell stated that many UK businesses were now increasingly looking at ways to go green, which could boost their corporate social responsibility credentials.

A recent report from the Federation of Small Businesses revealed that many companies were now tackling the credit crunch head-on by not only making an effort to lower the energy bills, but also by cutting their prices where necessary.
