Key to cost-effective recruitment

If companies in the UK have listed recruitment as one of their business goals for 2009 in the hope this will give them a competitive edge, jobs boards could be a cost-effective method to consider, according to one sector commentator.

Alex Farrell, managing director of The IT Job Board, said that he believed next year such groups could take advantage of the economic downturn.

"Job boards are one of the most cost effective methods of recruiting, especially in comparison with the traditional media and recruitment agencies," he explained.

Mr Farrell noted that times were likely to be tight next year, which may be a reason for businesses to consider this option.

At the recent IT and Communications Sector Group meeting it was revealed that IT recruiters rated their confidence in current market conditions as six out of ten which was slightly down on the seven out of ten recorded at the group's last gathering in June but showed stability in the sector's economic outlook.
