July Jobs-Outlook data shows increase in UK business confidence

Almost three-quarters of employers are expecting to add to their
workforce in the next three months, according to the Recruitment & Employment
Confederation's (REC) July Jobs-Outlook.
74 per cent of employers surveyed in the UK highlighted an
increase in business confidence with aims to increase their
workforce, while a further 66 per cent of respondents revealed they
were looking to expand within 12 months.
The July Jobs-Outlook data is based on a monthly online survey
totalling 600 employers, who indicated that increases in staffing
had risen for the third consecutive month by almost a fifth.
Roger Tweedy, the REC's director of research, said: "Employers
are more positive about their hiring intentions, which reflects an
improvement in overall business confidence.
"However, it is too early to predict whether this will translate
into significant jobs growth by the end of the year but we remain
confident that the private sector can absorb the fall-out from
public sector cuts.
"Employers are recognising the need to ramp up their recruitment
activity in order to attract high-potential candidates and move
their business forward."
The outlook for temporary and agency staff also appears
encouraging; with 76 per cent of business also looking to maintain
or increase their temporary staffing levels in the short term.
