The British Computer Society (BCS) is launching a drive to
increase awareness of how some workers can help with the success of
technology projects.
As part of its Professionalism in IT programme, the BCS is
appealing to company executives to view IT professionals in the
same way as those in traditional disciplines such as accountancy
and law, IT Week reports.
"The aim of the professionalism programme is to open doors at all
levels," said Adam Thilthorpe, BCS manager of Professionalism in
IT.
"We want to build a network of senior business people to share IT
project best practices and get across the message that IT and
business success go hand-in-hand," he added.
Mr Thilthorpe stated that the project would also implore board
level executives to look in greater details at the work of their IT
departments and notice their successes.
However, a study conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit
highlighted last month that complacency was rife among British
workers in charge of delivering IT projects.
