Accounting professionals who advertise their services online
receive about a fifth of their enquiries through the internet, a
study has shown.
Research by national network of marketing websites thebestof has
highlighted that on average, accountants spend £1,000
promoting their wares online, with the majority planning to spend
this amount or more on marketing over the coming year, Accountancy
Magazine reports.
The financiers were found to increasingly view online advertising
as a way of appealing to the clients of rival firms, with many
companies stating that their main competitors were larger than
them.
Nigel Botterill, chief executive of thebestof, said: "What this
research shows is that there's a whole generation of ordinary small
businesses - like accountants - who have been quietly working in
the background, using the web to steal market share from their
bigger competitors."
Website AccountancyMarketing.co.uk urges finance professionals to
learn to distinguish between their accountancy and marketing
roles.
