The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) has announced that it is launching a new financial reporting faculty.
According to the ICAEW, the complexity of financial
accounting requirements and the detailed International Financial Reporting Standards have increased demand for information and support.
Robert Hodgkinson, executive director, technical, at the institute, said that the new faculty is aimed at providing members with a "trusted and independent external point of reference when dealing with financial reporting issues".
The new faculty will also give the ICAEW "a voice" when it comes to financial reporting matters and working with standard setters and regulators, the organisation stated.
Andy Simmonds, partner at Deloitte, is set to chair the faculty's operational board, the ICAEW stated.
In related news, the organisation has announced the results of the latest advanced stage exams of the ACA qualification.
The advanced stage qualification includes the technical subjects which are taught based on business issues.
