A new group to provide support for more than 8,000 accountants
who work or have an interest in the public sector has been launched
by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
(ICAEW).
The specialist group, which will only be available for members of
the ICAEW to join for £96 per year, has been created jointly
by the institute and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and
Accountancy (CIPFA).
ICAEW chief executive Eric Anstee said: "Chartered accountants work
at all levels across the public sector, providing a broader
business perspective as part of their contribution.
"It is important that we support them effectively, ensuring that
their skills and knowledge are developed not only at the start but
continually throughout their career."
Benefits for those who join up will include a subscription to
CIPFA's Public Finance magazine, e-newsletters about developments
in the public sector and access to details held on the institute's
technical information service TISonline.
The launch follows the expansion by CIPFA of its
frequently-asked-questions website section.
