The International Accounting Standards Committee Foundation (IASCF) is planning on increasing the numbers of one its committees.

A proposal to raise the number of members of the International Financial Reporting Interpretations Committee (IFRIC) from 12 to 14 has been issued by the foundation, which is calling for public comment on the matter.

Trustees have said that the enlargement is necessary to maintain diversity among members of IFRIC and increase the group's collective experience of the application of international financial reporting standards.

Members of the public are invited to provide their views on the proposal, which is of particular importance in relation to the adoption of IFRS throughout the world, the IASCF has said.

Last month, the foundation published the International Accounting Standards Board's official pronouncements, including a new IFRS entitled Operating Segments, along with various amendments to other standards.
