The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) has been
recognised as having the best developed external stakeholder
engagement capabilities among 30 global organisations.
In the 2007 Global Accountability Report, the IASB was also rated
as a high performer in both evaluation and transparency.
It assesses the capability of 30 powerful worldwide organisations
which are accountable to the general public, classing them as high
performers if they are rated 50 per cent or more in three out of
four categories -participation, evaluation, transparency, and
complaints and response.
"The IASB has developed procedures that bring transparency,
predictability and consistency to the way its key constituencies
are involved in its activities and should be congratulated on its
achievements," said Rob Lloyd, lead author of the report.
Phil Laskawy, chairman of the IASC Foundation which oversees and
governs the IASB, welcomed the report and explained that
transparency and accountability have always been key standards of
the board.
The report will become publicly available from December 4th and
includes rating s on other international non-profit organisations
such as Fifa, Greenpeace International and Human Rights Watch.
